Description

Project: Church Neunburg
Description:

The Parish Church of St. Joseph in the Bavarian Neunburg vorm Wald was supplemented with a new nave in 1967 and, in keeping with the spirit of the time, was kept very simple. The colourful church windows with artistic designs by Erich Schickling stand out all the more. The simplicity of the room design was maintained during the renovation: Simple, natural materials give the church a special tranquillity. The old church pews were replaced, for example, with open rows of seats made of light wood. The original heating system beneath the pews had to be removed, not just for aesthetic reasons, but above all to have a more energy-efficient and effective heating solution.

Thus, the architect Michael Steidl, in consultation with the parish community, opted for the heating systems from NORIT. Thanks to the low floor construction and the slim design with surface-near conduits, the underfloor heating system allows for rapid heat distribution and thus a quick heating of the premises. The radiant heat contributes to a comfortable room temperature. A decisive advantage of the system is that it uses water for heat transfer without moisture entering the building. This minimises the risk of structural damage and supports dry construction methods. Additionally, the NORIT–TE 30 Therm heating system was installed as wall heating on the six-metre-high north wall of the church, which especially shows its effectiveness quickly during the cold winter months in the Upper Palatinate.

Thanks to NORIT's comprehensive expertise, which ranges from screed heating work and raw floor levelling to thermal insulation, the system could not only be installed and dried quickly, but optimal surface qualities were also achieved, ensuring the smooth progress of the construction project.
